Fridge freezing your food? We fix it at your home

A fridge that freezes milk and lettuce is wasting food and power. The cause is usually an air flap or a sensor, and both are quick repairs. We are a repair service. We come to your home and fix it.

What we usually find

When the fridge section gets too cold, we usually find one of these.

The air flap is stuck open

A small flap called a damper controls how much freezer air gets into the fridge. If it sticks open, the fridge gets far too cold. We free or replace it.

A faulty sensor or thermostat

The fridge keeps cooling because it does not know it is already cold. We test it and replace it.

A control board fault

In newer fridges the board reads the sensors and runs the fans. If it misreads, temperatures go wrong. We test the board before replacing anything.

Cold air vents blocked

Food pushed against the vent at the back can freeze even when the fridge is working. We check this first so you do not pay for parts you do not need.

What happens when we come out

  1. You call or text

Tell us the brand, the model if you have it, and what the fridge is doing. We book a time that suits you.

  2. We find the fault

The technician tests the fridge at your home and tells you what is wrong in plain words.

  3. You approve the price

You get the full price before we start. If it is not worth fixing, we tell you.

  4. We fix it

Most repairs are done on the spot with parts from the van. Our work has a 12 month warranty.

Before you call

  • Move food away from the air vents at the back of the fridge.
  • Check the fridge setting. On many fridges a higher number means colder.

Anything past these checks is a job for us. Please do not take off back panels, touch the gas pipes or pull out wiring. Fridges have high voltage parts and a sealed gas system, and a wrong move can turn a simple repair into a new fridge.

Questions about this repair

Is it wasting power?

Usually, yes. A fridge running colder than it should works harder and costs more to run.

Can a cold garage cause this?

It can. Some fridges behave oddly in a cold garage in winter. See our page on fridges in garages.

How long does the repair take?

Most damper and sensor repairs take under an hour once we are there.
