Is my fridge worth fixing?

Often it is. Most fridge faults are a fan, a sensor, a seal or a defrost part. We tell you honestly when it is not worth it.

Usually worth repairing

The fridge is under about ten years old.

The fault is a fan, sensor, thermostat, seal, defrost part, relay or water valve.

It is a built in or premium fridge that would be costly to replace.

Often not worth repairing

The compressor has failed on an older budget fridge.

The cabinet is rusted through or the inside liner is cracked.

The repair costs more than half the price of a similar new fridge.

How we help you decide

We find the fault first and give you the full price before any work starts. If a new fridge makes more sense, we say so and you only pay for the visit.

Questions

How long should a fridge last?

Many fridges last 10 to 15 years or more. Heat, dust and heavy use shorten that.

Is a gas leak worth fixing?

On a newer or premium fridge, often yes. On an old budget fridge, often no. We tell you the price first.

Do you sell fridges?

No. We only repair them, so our advice is not tied to selling you a new one.
